Temporary Remote Control Unit for Mineralnye Vody Airfield

Temporary Remote Control Unit for Mineralnye Vody Airfield

The equipment transfer to the customer has been successfully completed after installation and commissioning of the temporary remote control unit at Mineralnye Vody airfield. The delivery was performed for a large industrial developer, Limakmarashstroy LLC (LMS LLC), which is implementing a comprehensive project “Construction of a new airport terminal complex for domestic air lines at Mineralnye Vody International Airport”.

Construction of the temporary structure based on modular buildings of Segment series was required to enable Tower controllers to control aircraft movement on apron and runways, as well as to ensure possibility of further construction of new terminal building for the airport without adversely affecting air traffic control.

The remote control unit equipment will be operated by the personnel of Mineralovodskiy ATM Center of Aeronavigatzia Uga branch of the State ATM Corporation. The temporary remote control unit will be operating for air traffic services until commissioning of the new Tower, which will be combined with new airport terminal.

The remote control unit is a complex of modular buildings of Segment series arranged in two levels, either of which consists of twin modules. Upper level is a double-space room of Tower with panoramic windows for 270° view. The Tower is equipped with two workstations for ATC controller and supervisor. The first level houses equipment module and domestic compartment. In order to ensure required hight and view both levels of the modular buildings are mounted on a special basement, which consists of two additional containers.

The work was performed by NITA technical specialists with all features and limitations in conditions of flights services. The project stage related to the remote control unit was implemented with high quality and in the shortest possible time.

Full completion of the project involves two more stages: relocation of the temporary remote control unit equipment to the new Tower, and installation of equipment at alternate control post.
